Unfortunately due to the severe inclement weather conditions experienced Sunday night and this morning, play has been abandoned for The Lakes Medal – round 1 of The Senior Medal.
Play was initially suspended during a heavy shower around 9:50am which left both the 6th and 13th greens under significant casual water, with at least 5 more greens over the course of the next hour being deemed unplayable, also due to casual water.The decision was then made at 11:15am that play would have to be abandoned for the day when weather conditions refused to subside.
It was a disappointing result for the field who were more than up for the tough test, with over 90 players from the original field of 102 starting this morning.
It will be over to The Australian Golf Club tomorrow with hopes that the weather will dramatically improve.
