2016 Lakes Members’ Charity Golf Day to support young people in need
Following the success of the inaugural event last year which raised in excess of $110,000 for the Nelune Foundation, we are pleased to announce the 2016 Lakes Members Charity Golf Day. To be held on 14 July 2016, this key event held biennially in the Lakes Members’ calendar is an opportunity for you to support Phoenix House Youth Services, a very worthwhile cause.
Phoenix House provides flexible education and skills training for young people with very specific and challenging needs who are not in school or unemployed, and supports them to return to school or gain and retain employment. The service supports more than 500 young people each year.
With 1 in 8 young people aged 15-19 in Northern Sydney not engaged in study or work there is a huge need for these support services. Phoenix House has been providing support services for more than 30 years for young people who are homeless, victims of family violence or involved in family conflict and has achieved significant positive outcomes for the young people undertaking their courses and accessing their services.
A member driven event, the Charity Golf Day was a great success last year and we are aiming for an even better event next year. The Lakes Members are proud of our community involvement and this event is an opportunity for us to continue to give back to our community and introduce event attendees to our beautiful course and facilities.
Similar to 2014, the event will be organised by a working group consisting of both men and women from The Lakes, led by Lakes member Phil Burfurd who is a Phoenix House board member and chair of the Phoenix House Foundation.
The Charity Golf Day will include a mixed shot gun start teams event and a fund raising dinner.
