Spring Renovations & Course Update – Tuesday 15th September

All of the main annual “course renovations” process will be completed by Wednesday afternoon 16 September. The course team are currently coring/aerating the green surrounds (that commenced on Monday 14 September) and this will be completed during the competition on Wednesday 16 September. As previously advised, last week the greens were cored, scarified, fertilised, top-dressed with sand and irrigated and all fairways were cored and fertilised.
Construction work has also been conducted on the following projects:

  1. The re-shaping of the 4th hole right edge of the green and the right green surrounds will be completed by the course design team on Tuesday afternoon 15 September. This area is scheduled to be turfed on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 September, but the forecast rain for these days may delay turfing until next week.
  2. The reshaping of the left edge of the driving range and construction of the new sandy waste in the left rough of the 11th hole has been completed. There is a large amount of finishing work to be completed by our team over the coming month.
  3. The right edge of the driving range tee area has been improved to provide for more teeing area. The shaping of a practice fairway bunker to hit shots down the range has been completed by the course design team and requires finishing works over the coming weeks.
  1. The area for the new Teaching Facility has been prepared. Building construction will likely start in early October which is on track for opening in December.
  2. The replacement sandy coloured concrete path adjacent to the 1st green heading to the tunnel has commenced. This will be poured on Wednesday 16 September and is scheduled to be in use by Friday 25 September.
  3. The replacement sandy coloured concrete path adjacent to the 14th green and 15th tee has been poured and will be in use on Saturday 19 September.
