The Lakes Medal is a NSW Vardon Trophy event for elite level amateur golfers with a Golf Australia Handicap of 4 or less, and is contested annually on the last Sunday of January. This year was one of the strongest fields in recent times, with players travelling from throughout the State to have the opportunity to test themselves on a true Championship course. Included in the field was seventeen Members of The Lakes, all of whom were tested by the tough ‘Black Tee’ course.
Scoring proved difficult for the talented field, with the windy conditions of the famous back-nine wreaking havoc on their scorecards. Local knowledge did little to help, with only three Members of The Lakes making the top 10. Congratulations go to Tom Kadiev (6th), James Rayner (T2nd) and Trevor Sidley (T2nd) for their solid play.
The Champion golfer of 2017 went to Pymble Golf Club member, Corey Jones, who had an excellent score of 73.
