Tristan Berrett and Thomas Kadiev have won the 2018 Foursomes Championship by defeating Daniel and David Deverich 2&1 in today’s Final.
Played off the Black tees on a course that was presented in outstanding condition, coupled with the sunny skies and light winds, it shaped up to be an exciting final contest of this year’s Foursomes Championship.
After convincing 1st and 2nd rounds wins, the pair of Berrett and Kadiev were in fine form heading into today’s Final. The Deverich’s came through a solid semi final against Sam Beck and Chris Hartas by defeating them 4 & 3.
Tristan hit off first with his tee shot solidly hit and finding the right half of the first fairway. Daniel’s reply tee shot went a little further right up into the sandy waste which set the tone of what was to come. The contest traded momentum in what was turning out a tight hustle for this year’s Championship.
Through 11 holes, Berrett and Kadiev found themselves with a slender lead of only 1up. However, on 12, the tide seemed to have turned. A tee shot that went slightly left from Kadiev was never found and a reload was necessary by Berrett to keep them in play.
Playing the 15th hole, the match was at all square. Both pairs found themselves on the right hand side of the green with testing chips to a middle right pin. Neither pair managed to get up and down but a three-putt from the Deverich’s from 12 feet gifted the hole to Berrett and Kadiev.
The 16th hole was won with a solid par 4 from Berrett and Kadiev which was set-up by a fantastic second shot from in behind the trees on the right, next to the ladies gold 16th green by Berrett. Onto the 17th hole and both teams found themselves in the middle of the fairway for their second shots.
Once on the green, both pairs were putting for birdie after regulation third shots into the middle left pin. Both were able to secure two putt pars, and the match was sealed with the 2&1 victory for Berrett and Kadiev.
Congratulations Tristan and Tom on a wonderful effort and winning back to back Foursomes titles. Also, congratulations to the Deverich’s in making this year’s Final and putting up a solid fight against the defending champions.
