An intense low pressure system rendered most Sydney golf courses unplayable and the final round of the regular pennant season was essentially cancelled.
Our undefeated status ensured not only a berth in the semi-finals but also a number 1 seeding that is designed to pit us against the weakest of the 4 qualifiers in Division 2.
The strong Monash outfit seeded 2 whilst Massey Park’s gritty brawlers took the 3rd position.
We will face Liverpool who are the 4th seed after narrowly clinching their section with a gutsy win over main rivals North Ryde, despite a 5 hour rain delay.
The Lakes lads have performed well because they’ve prepared well including valuable training sessions with Christian Small and Charles Kares during the season. Their dedication to improvement has been a united effort and this energy creates a sharing of ideas that contributes to better performance and team bonding.
We are expecting a lively stoush from the Liverpudlians on Sunday morning at Macquarie Links and will rely on our loyal caddies and course notes to remain focused on the job at hand.
The aspirations of being promoted to Division 1 (for those teams contesting the final) will be motivation yet distraction: a golfing nuance and the reason why we play.
