Each year, The Lakes welcomes visitors to the course for the 2 division Open event. The Bronze Salver is an Open Single Stableford event played on the Orange course for players on GA Handicaps ranging from 16.1 – 25.3.
The Ladies open event has historically been scheduled as a February competition. In an attempt to attract more players, the event was moved to late April in 2019. We welcomed 45 players to this event this year and it was a highly competitive event with many good scores returned.
As is always the case, the event attracts players from Golf Clubs from all over the Sydney metropolitan area. This year we had visitors from the following Clubs:
The other golf clubs represented were: Asquith, Avondale, Bonnie Doon, Beverley Park, Carnarvon, Cessnock, Cromer, Chatswood, Castle Hill, Cronulla, Concord, Gungahlin Lakes, Grange, Hurstville, Hunter Valley, Kareela, Killara, Kogarah, Manly, Monash, Moore Park, NSW, New Brighton, Oatlands, Port Kembla, Randwick, Richmond, Royal Sydney, Ryde-Parramatta, Strathfield, Twin Creeks, The Coast, Tuggerah Lakes, Windsor Country Club and Woolooware.
The 2019 Winner was Stella Yoo from Twin Creeks Country Club off a handicap of 23 who shot a great score of 38 points. The Runner Up was Annie Tan from St. Michael’s Golf Club off a handicap of 33 who shot a solid score of 37 points.
The conditions of the day were extremely testing with the smoky haze from the hazard reduction burns greeting players for their early morning tee times. The weather then fined up and the smoke clearing making way for a bright, sunny day and a top of 23 degrees.
All in all the day was a highly competitive event with Visitors vowing to return to improve their results in 2020.
Congratulations to both the recipients of prizes and many congratulations to all the Ladies who participated in the event.
