The second round of the Club Championships Qualifying was played on Saturday 20th November, 2021. Over 130 Members teed it up today on a golf course that was playing quite hard and fast, with the greens running at almost 11 foot on the stimp meter!
After a sensational Round 1, first round leader, and defending Men’s Club Champion, Chris Hartas was out to extend his lead that he created in last Saturday’s round. Following on from last week’s 74, Chris was out in the last group of the Men’s Club Championship field, and managed his way around The Lakes to post a second-round gross score of 79 and post a two round scoring total of 153 and qualify in the leading position. The 36-hole total score of 153 by Chris was also good enough to capture the Pat Rhodes Memorial Trophy by five shots (best two gross scores from the two Club Championship qualifying rounds). Well done, Chris. In the 2nd and 3rd qualifying positions there was Samuel Beck on 158 and Ethan Harvey on 159.
The William Holder Memorial Trophy (best two nett scores from the two Club Championship qualifying rounds) was won this year by Benny Xu! Benny returned nett scores of 75 and 75 for a two-round total of 150. He has won this trophy by 3 shots from Giora Friede, who had nett scores of 80 and 73 for a total of 153. Well done, Benny!
In the 72 Hole Championship Medal, the second-round leader is our defending Men’s Club Champion Chris Hartas who has had gross scores of 74 and 79 to lead Sam Beck by five shots. The 3rd round of the 72 Hole Championship Medal will be played on Saturday 22nd January, 2022.
The 36 Hole Junior Boys Championship was played over Saturday 13th and 20th November with four boys playing in the event this year. Benny Xu, Cameron Jackson, Jordan Ribarovski and Shashank Koirala were fighting it out to be crowned 2021 Junior Boys Champion. After the two rounds played, the 2021 Junior Boys Champion is Shashank Koirala after having scores of 85 and 76 for a two-round total of 161. He was closely followed by Cameron Jackson with round of 85 and 78 on 163. Congratulations Shashank!!

In the B Grade Michael Knoepfler Trophy, which is the best 36 Hole nett score for the B Grade Championship, it was Jack Kalaf who won this trophy with a 36-hole nett score of 146. He has beaten Steven Hing on a Countback to win this 36 Nett trophy. Congratulations Jack! Well done.
The leading qualifier for the B Grade Championship, however, is John Jee with the two rounds of 87 and 87, for a two-round total of 174, closely followed by Oliver Picone and Geoffrey Everett who both had 175 for the two qualifying rounds.

Congratulations to Con Xanthis who was the leading qualifier for the C Grade Championships with a two-round total of 186, one shot ahead of the 2nd qualifier on 187 which was Greg Stone.

The first round of Matchplay for the Club, A- Reserve, B Grade and C Grade Championships will be held on Saturday 27th November, 2021. The deadline for the Round 1 Matches is Sunday 28th November, 2021.
