2022 Men’s B Grade and C Grade Championships – 1st Round Qualifying
The first round of the 2022 Men’s B and C Grade Championship Qualifying was played today, Saturday, 10th September 2022.
There were 45 Members who teed it up off the Blue Tees for the B Grade Qualifying and 18 who teed it up for the C Grade qualifying.
The weather was very kind to most golfers who teed off early today as hardly any wind, coupled with the softer ground conditions, made it fantastic scoring conditions for the players. Once again, the golf course was presented in magnificent conditions with fairways being cut yesterday and the greens being cut and rolled this morning to provide a pristine putting surface.
The stand-out scores so far, after Round 1, in the B Grade Qualifying went to Adam Rosenberg who returned an amazing score of five over par 77 and Geoffrey Everett with a 10 over par 82. They are closely followed by Lachlan Cheney and Danny Doff who returned gross scores of 85 apiece.
In the C Grade qualifying the best scores returned were from Paul McCarthy and Daniel Seeff who both shot 93. They are closely followed by Val Loumbos and Tony Berg who shot scores of 94.
Well done to all the Members who played today and who have put themselves in a strong position heading into Round 2 of the qualifying which is on next Saturday, 17th September, 2022.
In other events today, it was also the 1st Round of the 72 Hole Championship Medal which is a four-round gross event played off the black tee markers. The leader after round 1 is Harrison Glenday who shot even par 72. He is followed by both Bond Chan and Samuel Beck shooting 74 and then Roy Vandersluis on 75.
It was also the first round of the 36 Hole Junior Boys Championship with only Benny Xu and Shashank Koirala playing in the event this year. Shashank leads Benny by 10 strokes after returning a score of 80 today.
