Women’s Captain Newsletter

Thank you, ladies, for your support of my continuing captaincy, and thank you to Louise Schweikert for once again stepping up as my assistant.

Congratulations to all our major trophy winners – Sunday 18th Presentation Night was thoroughly enjoyed by all attendees.  The food was plentiful and delicious, and acceptance speeches by winners and runners-up were brilliant.

The opportunity was also presented to all our winners throughout the year to collect their voucher and be photographed with their trophy, which means we can cut much of this procedure out of our Christmas Cheer Day and concentrate more on enjoying ourselves.  Let me know if you are unhappy with this change.

If you were not present on the night and believe you have won a trophy/voucher I am sure Janette has put it aside for you.

Last Friday 25th we played the Rose Bowl at Bonnie Doon.  It was a very friendly but competitive day, won by Bonnie Doon 7 to 3.  The matches were followed by a very pleasant lunch.  Thank you to our team who all tried their best, and looked good whilst doing it.

Apart from the Mixed Foursomes on Sunday Nov 3 and Nov 10, there is not a great deal of serious competition for the rest of the year, due to the course renovations.  I do note, however, that Tuesday 12th November is a monthly medal day and the Gold Medal playoff.  It is also the final day for the Eclectic and Birdie competitions and the final round of the Super Senior Competition.  Prizes for these winners will be presented on the Christmas Cheer Day.

Following discussions with NSW Golf Club we have moved the Friendship Cup to Monday December 16th, to be played at The Lakes.  A sign-up sheet for 16 players will be put out on Tuesday 19th November.

Very late in November, on Wednesday 27th, our friends from The Grange GC in Adelaide will arrive in Sydney and the 3 days of socialising will begin with a cocktail party at the Club.  We have a full sheet of participants for the 2-day golfing event but will keep the reserves on hand should there be a last-minute call-up.

Then, before we have time to turn around, it will be our Christmas Cheer Day on Tuesday 3rd December.  Shake out your Christmas gear, get your team of 4 together, and get into the spirit for a fun final day.
