PGA Trainee Match

The Lakes hosted a PGA Trainee Match on Monday 25th June. 55 Trainee Professionals from across the state, visited our golf course yesterday to play an 18 hole stroke event on the 2018 Australian Open layout. Our Trainee Professional, Corey Cruickshank hosted his fellow trainees and was responsible for the day’s event and course set-up.

The course was presented in fabulous condition and was set-up tough, but fair. The greens were cut and rolled by our green staff with walk behind mowers early in the morning to ensure a premium putting surface was achieved.

The weather could not have been any better for the field who played, with light winds and bright sunny skies a recipe for low scoring. The best score of the day, and the winner of the event, was NSW Golf Club Trainee Professional, Allan Haughie who shot an amazing score of eight under par, 64! With 9 birdies and 1 bogey, Allan won the event by six strokes from Kogarah Trainee Professional, Mitchell Gannon who fired a two under par, 70.

Congratulations to our Trainee Professional who achieved a top 10 finish!  The highlight in Corey’s round was an eagle at the 6th hole, followed by three consecutive birdies on 9, 10 and 11, culminating in a very respectable score of 2 over par, 74.

Congratulations to all who participated and to the winner of the day.
