A section of the recent comprehensive Member Survey focused on the mix of tees and competitions with one question asking Members if they wanted the option to choose what tees they played off in some competitions. 47% of respondents stated it didn’t bother them either way, 33% stated yes and 20% stated no. Hence on Saturday 17 May the Club’s competition of the day was a single stableford with all Members offered the opportunity as a trial to play off either the white, blue or black tees as part of the one competition. Whilst 65% of the field chose to play off the middle course, the Blue Course, 9% selected the shorter White Course whilst 26% selected the Championship Black Course.
The winner was Bertie San with 41 points who played the White Course, whilst the next three places included Members who played off both the Blue and the Black Courses. Overall feedback from the trial was extremely positive and we plan on conducting three more “pick your own tee day’s” over the next three months with the first scheduled for Saturday 28 June. In addition, we are currently having the white course rated for ladies to play whilst the Red Course is being rated for men to play.
