The finals of the Club Championship, A-Reserve, B-Grade and C-Grade Championships have been played this week with the winners receiving their trophy at the major presentation night on Sunday. Christopher Brookes followed up his match play victory in the Bruce Stephens trophy earlier in the year to take out the C-Grade final over Stewart Starkey. Barry Mylecharane was victorious in taking on Peter George, claiming the match 3 & 1 and with it the B-Grade Championship Trophy. The A-Reserve final between Adrian Marafioti and Simon Mumby hit off at 11:00am in tough windy conditions, with Marafioti playing well for a convincing 8 & 6 victory. The 36 hole final of the Club Championship between Roy Vandersluis and leading qualifier Cameron Smith Jr began at 6:20am, with the two players deadlocked through the first 18 holes. After a short break the two commenced the second round with a stiff breeze building throughout the afternoon. Heading onto the back 9 of round two Smith Jr held a slight 1 up advantage which Vandersluis quickly negated with a birdie on 10, followed by wins on 11 & 13. The match was finally ended with a half on 17 to finish in a 2 & 1 victory to Vandersluis.
