136 members and their guests teed off in the Club’s inaugural Members’ Charity Golf Day. They raised $112,403 on the day and the night.
Co-Founder of The Nelune Foundation, Nelune Rajapakse OAM was delighted at the success of the event. “I am overwhelmed by the generosity displayed by the people last night at The Lakes Golf Club”. Nelune said.
“To have raised over $100,000 to help build The Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre is an achievement for which the Members’ and their friends should be very proud. Thank you on behalf of the Foundation and the patients and their families at Prince of Wales Hospital” Nelune said.
The Lakes President Michael Joseph congratulated the tremendous efforts of The Lakes volunteer working group, led by Julia Bowen to both coordinate this professionally run event and the fundraising efforts witnessed on the day.
The Lakes Women’s Captain Vivienne Freeman said “It was my intent to create a new and enduring fixture in The Lakes’ calendar. Julia Bowen introduced me to Nelune, and I knew that we had found the right charity”.
More than 150 guests were treated to a memorable dining experience at The Lakes, having the opportunity to bid on unique auction items and win generous raffle prizes coordinated by MC, Andrew Hansen of The Chaser Team.
